New Look for NELMA at Build Boston2006-11-29

For the fifth year in a row, NELMA participated as an exhibitor at Build Boston, this the 22nd annual convention held November 14-16 at the Seaport World Trade Center. The 3-day, 21-hour event provided a very timely opportunity for the Association to roll out new graphics and printed support materials designed under the new NELMA Marketing Program specifically to capture the attention of the building design professionals.  Following the lead of NELMA’s advertising slogan “She Loves Me. She Loves Me KNOT!”, new exhibit visuals were debuted to further the recognition of Eastern White Pine as the material of choice for today’s home designs.  With more than 14,000 building owner/manager, architect, engineer, contractor, interior designer, landscape architect and other building industry professionals in attendance, the NELMA booth number #326 received its fair share of visitors interested in our information, with more than 200 “quality” interviews with serious visitors.  The support materials available included the Eastern White Pine Information Folder and the premiere issue of the White Pine Architectural Monographs (see the detailed article on the Monographs for additional information on this NELMA publication), along with the NELMA Buyer’s Guide.  While not quite the wood-stark convention it has been in the past, NELMA continues to be one of very few wood related sources out of 350 exhibits at the convention. Jeff Easterling staffed the exhibit for the Association and noted that this fact was often mentioned in discussions with visitors to the booth, to say nothing of the “Think Beyond Wood” banner by a PVC moulding & trim manufacturer located directly across the aisle from NELMA.  The Association will continue its marketing blitz to this important group with additional PR activities in the coming months, including a first time exhibit at the April  4-5, 2007 Residential Architect show, at the same venue.

Eastern White Pine VS. Radiata Pine. Learn about these two species in a side by side comparison. Who will be victorious?

Founded in 1933, the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturer's Association (NELMA) is one of seven lumber rules writing agencies in the U.S. accredited by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to write grade rules that are certified as conforming to the American Softwood Lumber Standard PS20.  NELMA is the official author and administrator of the grading rules for Eastern White Pine, in particular.

In addition to the quality control inspection audits we conduct at lumber manufacturers to ensure that on-grade Eastern White Pine products are meeting the needs of consumers, NELMA develops and distributes an array of technical information and unique promotional materials via our member-driven marketing program.  We encourage you to browse through the pages of this website and discover why Eastern White Pine is the very best choice when wood is considered, both environmentally sustainable and application versatile.
