| Australia Rules Alert for Plywood Used in Export Wood Packaging | 2007-01-05 |
Please note that shipments to Australia from the U.S. utilizing wood packaging that include plywood require a “Newly Manufactured Plywood Products Certificate”.
This certificate is a self-declaration on company letterhead form that will need to include country of manufacture and date of manufacture (month and year stamped on the plywood face on most but not all grades of plywood). A statement that the plywood has NOT been “pre-used” is also necessary on the form as “pre-used” plywood is not acceptable.
This form is in addition to the “Packing Declaration” form required for IPPC ISPM 15 stamped wood packaging destined for Australia.
Australia’s official “Quarantine Aspects and Procedures” document for cargo containers, revised November 15, 2006, discusses this requirement on page 9 and a sample declaration is provided on page 76. The full regulation may be viewed by clicking here, or contact NELMA by email (info@nelma.org) or phone (207-829-6901) for further information or sample copies. | |

Eastern White Pine VS. Radiata Pine. Learn about these two species in a side by side comparison. Who will be victorious?
Founded in 1933, the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturer's Association (NELMA) is one of seven lumber rules writing agencies in the U.S. accredited by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to write grade rules that are certified as conforming to the American Softwood Lumber Standard PS20. NELMA is the official author and administrator of the grading rules for Eastern White Pine, in particular.
In addition to the quality control inspection audits we conduct at lumber manufacturers to ensure that on-grade Eastern White Pine products are meeting the needs of consumers, NELMA develops and distributes an array of technical information and unique promotional materials via our member-driven marketing program. We encourage you to browse through the pages of this website and discover why Eastern White Pine is the very best choice when wood is considered, both environmentally sustainable and application versatile.
