We are pleased to announce the hiring of Matthew Pomeroy as the latest addition to the Association’s inspection staff, effective November 12, 2007. He fills the Inspector position vacancy created by the resignation of Dean White. Matthew will work from his home base in Schenectady, New York, initially providing inspection services to NELMA’s export wood packaging customers within a newly-developed territory covering Central and Western New York, Western Connecticut, and portions of Western Massachusetts.

Matthew is a native of south-central New York and a 1995 graduate of Harpursville High School near Binghamton. He comes to NELMA with a broad experience in wood product manufacturing and sales, most recently employed by Curtis Lumber Company in Ballston Spa, New York within their hardwood department - customer and inside sales. Matthew’s prior work experience includes nine years at Cytech Hardwoods Inc. in Amsterdam, New York, fulfilling numerous business operational roles at the mill, including mill equipment installation and maintenance, lumber grading, shift management, lumber and by-product sales, and employee training and safety administration.

Please join us in welcoming Matthew to NELMA’s Inspection team and Association family.

Eastern White Pine VS. Radiata Pine. Learn about these two species in a side by side comparison. Who will be victorious?

Founded in 1933, the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturer's Association (NELMA) is one of seven lumber rules writing agencies in the U.S. accredited by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to write grade rules that are certified as conforming to the American Softwood Lumber Standard PS20.  NELMA is the official author and administrator of the grading rules for Eastern White Pine, in particular.

In addition to the quality control inspection audits we conduct at lumber manufacturers to ensure that on-grade Eastern White Pine products are meeting the needs of consumers, NELMA develops and distributes an array of technical information and unique promotional materials via our member-driven marketing program.  We encourage you to browse through the pages of this website and discover why Eastern White Pine is the very best choice when wood is considered, both environmentally sustainable and application versatile.
