PORTLAND, ME – On May 22nd Governor John E. Baldacci presented this year’s Excellence in International Trade and Investment awards at the Maine International Trade Day 2008 held at the Holiday Inn in Portland. Recipients were businesses or individuals who have demonstrated outstanding success in international trade, and are given in four categories: Exporter of the Year, Service Provider of the Year, Innovator of the Year, and Foreign Investor of the Year. Maine’s Foreign Investor of Year for 2008 is Fontaine Inc. of Woburn, Quebec, Canada. Fontaine is a family owned and operated businesses located in the heart of the northeastern forests. For more than 40 years, the company has been recognized as a reliable source of quality lumberfor clients all across the eastern United States and Canada. In order to perform in today's competitive environment, Fontaine invests heavily in developing its human resources and appropriate proven new technology, including a recent multi-million equipment upgrade at its lumber mill in Stratton, Maine.
